ZMF 2013 will be held in beautiful Arcata, California, co-sponsored by Humboldt State University. Nancy Zeltsman, a marimbist/teacher based in Boston, is the founder and Artistic Director of ZMF, now entering its 11th season.
The 60 faculty members and participants who will gather for ZMF 2013 hail from 13 U.S. states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MN, WI, OH, IL, TX, PA, MA, NY and NJ), as well as Canada, Mexico, Greece, Portugal, Belgium, Luxembourg, China, Japan and Korea. They will work closely in an intensive, fun music seminar environment centered on marimba performance.
ZMF 2013 Concert Series
Over two weeks, all 60 musicians will be featured on what promises to be an unforgettable series of 8 concerts. The public is warmly invited! Musical styles to be represented range from classical music to recent compositions, jazz, blues, Latin, Mexican and other world-influenced musics.
Celebrate community
ZMF's first visit to Arcata celebrates a local business, Marimba One: a leading manufacturer of marimbas recognized worldwide. Participants will get a factory tour. Other visitors may recieve a factory tour by request.
