Ivana Bilic

Ivana Bilic is Principal Timpanist of the Croatian Radio Symphony Orchestra, on faculty at the Zagreb Music Academy, and regularly records for radio and television. In 1998, Ivana received the Best Young Croatian Artist Award and was awarded a “Milka Trnina” for best concert performance in 2003. She has twice received the prestigious Croatian discographic “Porin” Award for best performance in the classical field: for her debut solo CD Follow Me (2001), and for her solo performance of Igor Kuljeric’s Marimba Concerto (2004). She received enthusiastic reviews for her solo performances of the latter as well as concerti by James MacMillan, Joseph Schwantner and Philip Glass, which she performed with numerous orchestras including the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Slovenian Philharmony, the Danubia Symphony Orchestra and the Croatian Chamber Orchestra. Bilic has been featured at many international festivals including Musicora Paris, Tempus Fugit Tel Aviv, and Music Biennale Zagreb. She regularly gives marimba and percussion clinics and master classes in Europe, the United States, Mexico, and South America. In addition to solo concerts, she performs with several chamber music groups. She also arranges and co-edits new works for percussion, and has composed several marimba solos and a duo published by Malletworks. Marimba One produces her signature line of mallets.
